Origins
Where a movement began.
In 1844, a young man named George Williams gathered twelve friends in a London draper's shop. What they started that night became one of the largest youth-serving movements in human history — the YMCA.
The Spark is a contemporary artwork that honours that founding moment. Not a replica. Not a memorial. A live object — bold in colour, strong in presence — that asks you to feel what it meant to begin.
Unveiled at the YMCA Europe General Assembly in Malta and donated to YMCA Malta, The Spark now belongs to the organisation's heritage and future in equal measure.
